Echoes
I hear
From street to street
Chatters I hear
From wall to wall
Locked down
Have we become
With our freedom
snatched
And stowed away
Freedom to show
affection
Freedom to air our
views
Freedom to work
Freedom to move
“Wear face masks,
keep social distance
Do not shake hands
Do not hug
Do not do this
Do not do that"
These we hear as a
daily anthem
Can I not wed my
betrothed
Can I not wed my
engaged
Can I not marry my
love
Can I not?
“Wed indoors"
They proclaim
“Not more than 20
attendees”
They loudly pronounce
Invite as much as you
can
To attend via Zoom
Imprisoned are we all
Imprisoned by
coronavirus
So, echoes I hear
Through walls
Through streets
