"TENDER FEET" By Rachael Williamson

"TENDER FEET" By Rachael Williamson

With a skin so supple

And eyes so gentle

My heart you melted

As with a yawn your lips parted

From my arms have you grown

As my love have you known

On the floor your adventure began

As to growth you crawled

Walked and ran

Your laughter’s purity

My heart could contain not

As with your innocent antics

At peace you remained

“Take my hand, O Mother

And do not let me go"

How these sweet words

In my ears re-echo

How fast

Days have passed

My sweet tender feet

Into the now have you grown

As intelligence have you shown

Day by day

Hustles stay

Yet my mind for you longs

My pretty tender feet

To you I come

As with you I am warm

My days are whole with you

My soul

My strength

My drive

My tender feet

How comely are the feet

Of children of Nigeria!

For you we pray

For you we live

Our tender feet

Footprints of our lineages

Footprints of Nigeria

Footprints of Africa

What joy it is to watch you grow

This joy I shall have

From the day

I would be given away

What a beauty you are

What a joy you are

To behold

To keep

Children

Tender feet of Nigeria!

Leaders of tomorrow

Rise and lead

Rise and rule

The world of Nigeria

The world of Africa!
