"NUMB" by Rachael Williamson

Numb

Have I become

For neither can I

Speak not feel

How would I

These scars heal

Scars on my mind

Scars on my skin

My body

You devoured

My mind

Shattered

For mercy

I begged

“Help!”

I screamed

But dense

Was the air

As it carried not

My voice

Now here

Abandoned, betrayed

Cold, bare

Have you left me

You I asked

To paint me

A picture

You i asked

To make me

A promise

But these

Into shreds

You ripped

“Help!”

Out I cry

Even so

Ears can hear me not

For whimpers and sobs

I let out

Tell me

Why with your hands

Into hills and valleys

My soul sculpt

Tell me

As numb

I lay

Tell me

For by ‘morrow

My sorrow

Beneath makeover

Shall I cloak

For a home

I seem to have

Happy, happily cuffed

I seem to be

So, who

Who shall, my voice

Let out

Who...who shall my scars

Reveal

Cracked, broken

Beyond the mirror

I am

Yet

Who shall give me succour
